What we collect when you shop with us, why, who handles it for us, and what you can ask of us.

Who we are

Rug Corner (rugcorner.in) is operated by Rug Store, a sole proprietorship registered at 690, Block 23, Ashiana Umang Mahindra Sez Road, Ashiana Umang, Jaipur, Rajasthan, 302026, GSTIN 08ANRPJ7569B1ZK. When this page says “we”, that is who it means. Write to us at care@rugcorner.in.

What we collect, and why

Only what a shop needs to do what you asked:

  • To deliver an order — your name, delivery address and mobile number, so the courier can find you and call if the gate is shut.
  • To confirm and invoice it — your email, where the confirmation and the delivery email with the link to (or, for a guest order, the way to ask for) your GST invoice go; the invoice itself names you and the delivery address.
  • To sign you in — a 4-digit code sent to your mobile number, so you never need a password. The number is then stored on your account as verified.
  • To quote a custom design — the photos, sizes, colours and notes you send with a design request.
  • Your WhatsApp choices — whether you asked for order updates on WhatsApp and, separately, whether you asked for offers there, exactly as you ticked them and when.
  • Your newsletter subscription — the email you gave us, when, and when you confirmed it.
  • What is in your bag — so it is still there when you come back, and so we can send at most one reminder about it.
  • The messages you send us — through the contact page, email or WhatsApp.
  • Basic technical records — your connection’s address, device and the time of a request, to keep the site safe and to stop abuse (for example, too many sign-in codes from one connection).

Who processes it for us

We use a few services to run the shop. Each sees only what its job needs:

  • Razorpay — online payments. Your card, UPI or netbanking details go to Razorpay, never to us; we see only that a payment succeeded and its reference.
  • Zoho ZeptoMail — sends our emails (confirmations, delivery updates with the invoice link, the newsletter).
  • Meta’s WhatsApp Cloud API — sends WhatsApp messages: order updates and offers only when you opted in, and a sign-in code when you ask for one.
  • Google Cloud — hosts the site and its database, on servers in India.
  • The courier that delivers your order — gets your name, address and phone number so it can reach you. We will name our delivery partner here once it is appointed.

We do not sell your details, and we do not share them with anyone for their own marketing.

Cookies

The site sets a handful of cookies, all of them to make it work, none to advertise to you:

  • _rs_cart_id — which bag is yours.
  • _rs_jwt — keeps you signed in for a week.
  • _rs_cache_id — a session id, so pages load faster.
  • _rs_locale — your language, if you ever change it.
  • _rs_design_sent — for a short while after you send a design request, the number and email you gave, so the confirmation and sign-in pages can show them.
  • Razorpay sets its own during a payment.

There are no advertising or tracking cookies.

Marketing — only with your yes

We send offers and news only to people who asked for them, and each channel is a separate choice:

  • Email — the form in the footer (we send a confirmation email first, and nothing more until you tap it), the “offers and new arrivals” box at checkout, or the switch on your account page. Every marketing email has a one-click unsubscribe link.
  • WhatsApp — the “offers” switch on your account page. Reply STOP to any message and every WhatsApp message from Rug Store stops — offers and order updates; the box on a later order switches its updates back on.

Order updates are separate from offers: ticking the WhatsApp box at checkout gets you delivery updates for that order and nothing else. Emails about an order you placed are not marketing and keep coming.

How long we keep it

  • Orders and invoices — as long as tax law requires us to keep them.
  • Your account — until you ask us to close it.
  • Bag reminders — a note of which bag we reminded you about, so we never send a second one. Newsletter records — while you are subscribed; after you unsubscribe we keep only the address and the date, so we never write to it again unless you ask.
  • Sign-in codes — 10 minutes.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete what we hold about you (subject to what the law makes us keep, such as invoices), withdraw a consent at any time, or complain. Write to care@rugcorner.in or to our grievance officer, Ankit Jain, at owner@rugcorner.in or 690, Block 23, Ashiana Umang Mahindra Sez Road, Ashiana Umang, Jaipur, Rajasthan, 302026. We acknowledge a complaint within 48 hours and resolve it within one month.

Children

The site is for adults. We do not knowingly collect details from anyone under 18.

Law

Indian law applies, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 as its provisions come into force. Disputes are for the courts of Jaipur.
